How to build a wardrobe| Shoes

We've laid the foundation of our wardrobes and now it's time to decorate  with shoes and accessories.  These are essential to every wardrobe. Every single one. Some girls are shoe girls and some are jewelry addicts and some are purse junkies and some are a little (or a lot) of all three. Which ever you are you need a little of it all.  Shoes being the biggest piece, so that's what I'm going to focus on.

Here are the 6 staple shoes that  I think every women should own.

Shoes are essential to everyday life, "No shirt no SHOES no service" right? There are so many different shoes out there but so many are useless and impractical. here are some basics  that every wardrobe should have. And then from there you can build upon that.
( The pictures I'm posting are my own personal style, I'm not saying these are the exact kind you have to get.)

1. Basic flats:
Every girl needs a pair of basic flats that can be dressed up or down and are comfy for those long days. You can go very basic with this or be a little more unique in your style. It's whatever you want. Simple as that.

2. A nice pair of heels:
Every girl needs at LEAST one pair of heels. This may seem frighting to some, thinking 'No I don't need to own heels; I hate heels. Well, they are a good thing to own for those special occasions and rare events. They can dress up any outfit. Plus they'll make your legs look rocking. Stay with a solid color for your first pair.

3. Tennis Shoes:
We gotta have those comfy shoes and they are essential for our work outs, right ladies?
Tennis shoes are so fun these days. No more basic grandma sneakers. You can get ones that express your style in a more fun way. So cool!

4. Fun Shoes:
What I mean by 'Fun shoes' is a pair of shoes that totally fit you and your style; ones that go with a lot in your wardrobe and can be worn dressed up or down.

5.Seasonal shoes:

Summer and Winter shoes are so drastically different (DUH) you need sandals in the summer and boots for the winter. It is really as simple as that. Just get whatever suits your style and needs for that season. Depending on where you live you may only need one or the other.

6. Shoes of trade:

Work shoes. Shoes that are perfect for whatever job you may have. For some of you it may be one of the ones I've already listed. For me its heels or sneakers. (depending on the day.)

As for Accessories, well thats a whole other post. ;)

How to build a wardrobe| 6 Simple steps.

How to build a wardrobe. The term "building a wardrobe" may seem silly  to some of you but with a wardrobe it really is something you build slowly but surely. And then one day you'll have the perfect wardrobe for you. But as time passes it will need a little upgrading. Just like a house or a building. So the first thing you need is the 'foundation' and then you can build from there. I'm here to give you my advice for the strongest wardrobe 'foundation'. Or at least my opinion of what that is based on my experience in the fashion industry.

Step 1.  Basic skinny Jeans

Basic nice  skinny jeans are a solid piece to own. They go with so much. They can be dressed up or down, and they make you look fabulous. If you're not into the whole skinny jeans thing or are past the age of wearing them (I'll let you determine that) then a regular nice jean will do just the same. Jeans that are the right size and fit for you lay a good foundation for you to build your look on.

Step 2.  - A few basic tops

These are great because they go with almost everything and can be worn many different ways. Again they can be dressed up or down. They are a simple staple piece for any wardrobe.

Step 3. A little(or not so little, lets be modest ladies) black dress.

A black dress is a great thing to own, it is something you can wear to many occasions, such as: Church, a night out, a date, a job interview (in my profession all interviews or castings you have to wear a black dress. so it is a must) A black dress can go with so much and be worn so many different ways. It is another basic building block for any woman's wardrobe.

Step 4. A stand out/statement piece(or pieces).

Now this is different for each person depending on style differences. But a statement piece is a good thing to own. It can be a blazer, skirt, dress, top etc. Whatever floats your boat. I just think a statement piece is a good thing to have for those occasions when you feel like expressing your style in a more stand out way. (making a statement.)

Step 5. A sundress/or fun dress

A girls gotta have a cute sundress or maxi ( whatever fits your style.) The pattern shape and style all depends on you and what you like and your body type. But this is a good thing to have in your wardrobe for these 3 simple reasons; 1.Fun 2.Flowy 3. One dress is not enough. ( I said they were simple.) Having another nice dress that isn't black is a good thing to own.

Step 6. A Blazer or cardigan or both.

You need something to keep you warm or cover you up while still being fashionable. Layering is always a good option to have as well.

And that concludes my 6 steps for the foundation of a wardrobe.(we will save shoes and accessories for another post, they are like the interior design of a good building). I am by no means a professional or expert at this, but these are things that work for me and I have built my wardrobe around. I hope that having these simple things will help you to have a strong foundation you can build upon.
